Two fabulous days on Cunard’s new ship Queen Anne all for £140

I was so looking forward to going on this new ship, Cunard’s Queen Anne, it was an experience to remember, and I was lucky enough to be going with my daughter. From the moment we stepped on board, I was struck by the ship’s elegance and the wonderful welcoming staff. As soon as I saw this low price of £140 on the Cunard website I booked, I knew it would go up very quickly. We travelled from Southampton to Hamburg, 2 nights. Flights from Hamburg on British airways started from £60.

Design

The Queen Anne blends classic Cunard style with a few contemporary touches. The ship's interiors are luxurious, plush carpets, and elegant furnishings. The art deco influences throughout the ship add a touch of class. I was so pleased that they had continued to stay with that theme. I love the Queen Mary and I hoped that theme would continue on Queen Anne, keeping the Cunard brand.

Cabins

Our cabin was spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities one could ask for. The beds were comfortable, with luxurious linen and the bathroom had a good layout with high-quality toiletries and my particular favourite was a big fluffy white robe each. We had an interior room, which was fine for two days. We had a turn down service every evening, chocolates on our pillows, and a complimentary bottle of champagne.

Dining and bars

Dining on the Queen Anne was a delight. The main dining room, for us the Brittania, offered a variety of delicious dishes, all beautifully presented. It was nice to see everyone participating in the tradition of wearing evening attire on Gala night. The staff were very attentive, and if you had dietary needs they would accommodate. The buffet was equally delicious in the Artisans Buffet. Here you could not help yourself, all foods were  served by the staff. The afternoon tea service, in the Queens room was a quintessentially British experience with delicious pastries and fine teas. Get there early, there is always a queue.  My favourite was the Pavillion Wellness cafe. Here they have a selection of healthy food, you can create and build your own bowl. There are many bars and lounges including a British pub The Golden Lion.

Entertainment and Activities

The entertainment options were varied and top-notch, from Broadway-style shows in the theatre to live music in the lounges and bars. The daily activities schedule was packed with interesting lectures, fitness classes, and fun events. We were lucky enough to see Jon Courtenay who was a comedian, singer and pianist, a Britain’s Got Talent winner. There are ample deck games, including pickle ball. A great swimming pool with a retractable roof, and there’s a movie screen. There are many quiet areas including the library. Shops and the casino, art gallery, quizzes. The Grand Lobby would often have music including a classical string trio. The casino, here  I was lucky enough to win enough to almost cover the price of my cruise.

Is Queen Anne ok for solo travellers

On this trip I was travelling with my daughter so I didn’t attend any solo get togethers. I did pass the bar where the get together was and it looked well attended. The Solo travellers coffee get together was at 10.00 a.m and also at 5.30.

My Brief Experience

Sailing on the Cunard Queen Anne was a wonderful luxurious experience. It doesn’t have the technology of many of the newer competitors' ships, but keeps its traditional feel. The combination of elegant design, superb dining, top-notch entertainment, and outstanding service made for a memorable two day trip.  Queen Anne was impressive. If you like a serene calm experience and excellent entertainment, I highly recommend it. I can't wait for my next journey with Cunard.
