I was going through some old photos and came across this picture of a falcon. Well, I assume it's a Falcon. It was big. Even with my little bird knowledge, I know for certain it's not a seagull. It landed close to our balcony whilst the ship was heading towards the Suez Canal. We were on Royal Caribbean on Brilliance of the Seas.
He stayed there for ages and looked exhausted.
It made me think about what else I'd seen, which was a bit odd, whilst cruising. Up there, in this category, a couple of first time cruisers were wearing their life jackets and about to get in the pool. I listened to their conversation with the lifeguard. Apparently, they were just checking if the jackets were fit for purpose. They wanted to have a good splash around in the pool to check them out. Goodness, I hope they didn't want to check the lifeboats too.
While we were having dinner one evening somewhere off Miami, the ship gradually slowed and then stopped. Everyone was looking out the windows, as there was a lot of activity outside. A small boat came very close to the ship and eventually tied on. We were held up for quite a long time until the US Coast Guard showed up and took the occupants of the small craft on board their boat. It was very unexpected. Maybe they were pirates, aaaargh!
If you are the one who loves the slides or the Flowrider on RCCL, make sure you're wearing appropriate swimwear for the task when you are participating. I've seen many a belly-flopper lose his trunks. Females lose the top half of a bikini on a slide. Either of these always generates a big cheer from the onlookers. To save your embarrassment, make sure everything is secure, or you could end up with someone catching that on camera and publishing your unfortunate mishap on social media.
I had to add this in, as it's one of my favourite places. Central Park on Symphony of the Seas. It is so peaceful, so beautiful, a tranquil park. These gardens are tended by three gardeners. Is it only RCCL that does this? It's certainly unusual to see a green oasis in the middle of the ocean. Makes you forget you are at sea for a short while.
Have you seen something strange or hilarious? I'd love to hear about it.
